Welcome to International Motor Cars, your automotive one-stop shop.
We are a Registered Automotive Workshop (RAW) that specialises in the conversion and compliance of motor cars from around the globe.

What we do

International Motor Cars specialises in the compliance and conversion of vehicles sourced from the United States, Europe and Asia. With over 20 years of experience, our highly skilled and passionate team is able to replicate any interior design and produce a mirror image conversion of any specialist vehicle.

How it works

A Registered Automotive Workshop (RAW) allows for the importation and supply of used specialist and enthusiast vehicles to the Australian automotive market. RAWS arrangements do not apply for vehicles manufactured before 1st January 1989, thus do not require modification.

Vehicles manufactured after this date will require modification to comply with the relevant Australian Design Rules (ADR’s). Vehicles that meet the ADR requirements can then be fitted with a Used Import Plate (this is a requirement for registration).

In order for a vehicle to be eligible for importation and compliance under a RAW, the vehicle must be a used vehicle that is listed as eligible under the Specialist and Enthusiast Vehicles Scheme (SEVS). If the vehicle is not listed on the SEVS list, however is a specialist vehicle, a RAW can apply for eligibility.

For more information on conversion and compliance prices, please call International Motor Cars.

how long will it take to convert a vehicle?

The time needed to convert and comply vehicles strictly depends on the complexity of the vehicles interior design as well as the vehicles condition.

The conversion process begins once the vehicle has arrived at the IMC workshop. Vehicles are estimated at 4-6 weeks, depending on the complexity of the vehicle as well as its condition. The estimated time to convert a vehicle takes into consideration maximum delay times of any parts/components ordered for conversion purposes.

Do I have to convert the vehicle?

An imported vehicle manufactured after 1st January 1989 can only be registered and operated on Australian roads once it is converted and complies with the relevant Australian Design Rules. Cars must undergo a complete steering conversion from left to right hand drive, while motorcycles simply have to meet relevant ADR's.
